Those in need of services in Edmonton will have the opportunity for one-stop care on May 7 when the next Homeless Connect takes place.

Homeless Connect is hosted twice annually and caters to those who are homeless or in need of support.

On Sunday, providers will gather at the Shaw Conference Centre in downtown Edmonton and provide a wide range of care including dental, foot, chiropractic, massage, haircuts, birth control, clothing, pre-natal support, laundry, housing information, mental health assessments, employment and training services, tax preparation and Indigenous services. Services will be provided from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lunch will also be provided and ETS (Edmonton Transit) will offer free service to the Shaw Conference Centre. The Shaw Centre hosted the first event in 2008 and since 2009, Homeless Connect Edmonton has been held twice each year.

It is the largest event of its kind in Canada. At the last Homeless Connect, in October 2016, more than 2,000 people accessed 70 services.

Homeless Connect Edmonton is a bi-annual collaboration of Edmonton Economic Development, Homeward Trust Edmonton, and the Shaw Conference Centre.

The event supports the city of Edmonton’s 10-year plan to end homelessness, which was put in place in 2009.
