“A Place Between: A 60’s Scoop Arts Project”

Tuesday, MARCH 7 from 7 pm. to 9pm

At Circle of Life Thunderbird House, 715 Main St, Winnipeg, MB.

Please join us for a community meeting to introduce an upcoming arts project produced by Urban Shaman Contemporary Aboriginal Art Gallery titled “A Place Between: A 60’s Scoop Arts Project”.

We are inviting dialogue with the public about this community issue of 60’s Scoop Survivors and children placed in care and are creating an arts initiative that includes 24 contemporary Indigenous artists who will be producing visual artworks, public art, performances, writing and films, in which they all describe myriad experiences of being forcibly removed from one’s family, and to discuss the healing supports for such an experience.

Our project is scheduled to take place April 7 to May 6, 2017 and we are encouraging feedback about the project and issues we are discussing between now and the project kick off dates.

The Urban Shaman Gallery has also commissioned new works by Scott Benesiinaabandan, Tasha Hubbard, George Littlechild, and Jessica McMann-Sparvier to be included in a group exhibition at the same time.
