SOCIAL WORKER, HOUSING ENHANCEMENT
Ambrose Place is providing leadership in providing a permanent supportive home to the most difficult to house homeless people in Edmonton. The mission is to provide homeless individuals and couples of Indigenous descent a culturally sensitive and safe environment. Using a harm reduction model, residents are provided supports to reduce risks associated with alcohol, drug use and street life. Staff at Ambrose are expected to work by the values of love, humility, discipline, courage, respect, bravery and truth.
We are seeking a progressive, creative and solution orientated Social Worker to lead the resident support team in championing living solutions for our residents. Strong caseload management along with supervisory experience will be essential. Familiarity with issues of poverty, homelessness and the urban core in Edmonton will be key to your success. Experience working with high risk populations and an understanding of Aboriginal cultures, history and current issues is highly desirable. Ability to speak Cree, Blackfoot or Dene would be a definite asset.
A Degree in Social Work along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience or a Diploma with 5 years’ experience is desired. Other Human Services education along with extensive Social Work experience may be considered. A valid Class 5 License with a satisfactory drivers abstract and a vehicle are essential.
